Welcome to Spectrum Advocacy! Spectrum Advocacy was started to help students with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder and other children with special needs. The rate of children diagnosed is alarming. The Centers for Disease Control statistics state 1 in 68 children will be diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The statistics are benign until your child is diagnosed with ASD and now life is very real.
If a child would have been diagnosed at 3 years old and not 9, he would not have had so many challenges. A child’s brain is more pliable at the age of 3 versus 9. Intervention in younger children allows the child to learn the skills needed to reach their full potential. The impact of intervention is more comprehensive when diagnosed younger. Along with the diagnosis of autism, some will experience other comorbidities such as; Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), anxiety, toruett’s, depression, specific learning difficulties and sensory processing issues. Those are just to name a few, keep in mind when you have met one person with autism, you have only met one person with autism. Every individual is unique in their own way.
Spectrum Advocacy services the Denver Metro area and Front Range.
